About me

Born in New Britain, CT, Scott Micheal Bidwell learned to play the bass guitar on his own when a group of friends decided to form a band and needed a bassist. He eventually learned to play multiple instruments as his passion for music grew.

Scott began working in the live music industry as an audio engineer/technician for I.A.T.S.E. Local #84 out of Hartford, CT. He worked at several venues and bars across Connecticut before finding his position at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts as the head Audio Engineer in the Belding Theater.

He played in local bands Frame of Anger, Cheese, Torn Between, and several others before finding the Alternative metal band Strychnine who was looking for a bassist. Strychnine had some success and shared the stage with bands like Crazytown, The Union Underground, and Taproot.

After Strychnine split up, he joined a roots rock reggae band known as Tangled Roots who changed their name to Blue Dream after some internal differences.

After Blue Dream disbanded, Scott built GY6 Sound Studio and began recording his own songs as a way to recruit new musicians to form a new band.

Where does the name “Lyphted” come from?

When I was younger, I smoked a lot of weed and I liked skating vert. A few of us started using the term “Lifted” for smoking and going to the skate park which often times involved a band at the skate park as well.

When video games came online, I had a PS2 that I hooked up to the internet with a usb network adapter I found.

The problem was there weren’t really any games made for this yet. But Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 had it built in, so I managed to log into it and played with a handful of others who I suspect were actually developers figuring out how to make it work.

I used “Lifted” as my name and from that point forward it became my online name. When online gaming took off, I changed the spelling to “Lyphted” (like Glyph without the G) because other people started using the L-I version.

The “Lyft” came around and I wanted to get away from the name as not to be associated with that company, but, it has become extremely difficult to find a good psydoname or band name that’s not taken, so I went back to it.
